The radiator is probably leaking if you have orange fluid leaking from your BMW. The original color of the engine coolant could be orange, or it will turn orange if it is filled with rust and sediment. Unfortunately, as the radiator ages, rust builds up on the bottom of it. This rest eats through the radiator and causes the coolant to leak out of the holes. Orange is just one color of the engine coolant. Here are the other colors and the colors of the other fluids in your BMW.
Blue
The coolant can also be blue, but this is rare. It is the windshield washing solution if you have blue fluid leaking out of the BMW. You can always check the color of your BMW’s coolant by looking at the overflow reservoir when the engine is cold.
Brown
Coolant does not come in brown, but many other automotive fluids do. As you already know, your motor oil is brown. The BMW’s differential oil is also brown. In most cases, the brake fluid is light brown when it is new and dark brown when it is old.
Clear
Water is clear, and it drips from the air conditioning system and out of the tailpipe. If the fluid you see on your garage floor is clear, dab some up in a paper towel and smell it. You want to make sure that it does not smell like fuel. Fuel can also look clear.
Green
Another color in which coolant comes is green. The screen is usually bright green or a green-yellow shade. You do not want to drive the BMW if it is leaking coolant. Driving the European automobile can cause the engine to overheat and cause additional damage.
Red
Your BMW also has red fluid under the hood. The power steering fluid is red, and the transmission fluid is red. The coolant can also be red; you may have red fluid in the brake system.
Yellow
Finally, one last color in which coolant comes is yellow. As with green, this color is generally bright, almost neon, or yellow-green. Do not worry. We can help if your BMW is leaking automotive fluid. We will determine the fluid, where it leaks, and repair the problem.
